We are the most recent chapter of a centenary story that keeps looking towards the future. Our name, Abubaker Technical Services and General Supplies Ltd, launched in 2002 and has been able to give birth to several subsidiaries by 2020 is a further step in Abubaker’s history: An evermore global group with strong roots in Uganda. A project for growth created as part of Abubaker, the operation to consolidate Uganda’s construction sector, to create a large construction group capable of supporting the sector’s recovery in the country, while also making Ugandan companies more competitive in the market.
Everything began in Uganda, in 2002, from the union of entrepreneurs with the same values of excellence and professional ethics. We already had a great vision: to grow by building complex and lasting infrastructure that symbolized sustainable development, while also allowing current and future
generations to grow. During our first years, we realized a turnover of Ugx200m.
With a history of last 20 years of construction excellence, Major projects in the country, a journey of growth which transformed a family company into a big international enterprise.
The plan to grow organically is the brainchild of Hajji Juma Kalema Kutakulimuuki, who is the founder and managing Director todate. In 2017 Abubaker acquired the precast batching machine and in 2018 the strategy to
expand and lower costs was soon reinforced by the acquisition of the Asphalt Plant and crusher which is a competitive advantage for a construction firm.
Management began preparing proposals for the acquisition of the Asphalt Plant and crusher early in 2017, the funding process started in the mid-2018 and the plant was
acquired in 2019. Installation process was completed and started operations in April 2020.
About the company The company has successfully operated in Kampala City and elsewhere in the country for the past ten years working on both small and medium sized road construction, road maintenance and drainage construction projects and has to date constructed over 80kilometres of tarmac roads, over 300 kilometers of gravel roads including affiliated drainage systems
and since 2014 installed over 600 No. high quality solar street lights.
Our major clients have mainly been the Government of Uganda represented by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) and Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (MoLHUD). Works executed have also included World Bank funded projects in the
Albertine Region, Hoima Municipality, Fort Portal Municipality and Mbarara Municipality.
